Human Intelligence.

In 2023 and beyond, Human Intelligence (HI) will be more important in most companies than Artificial Intelligence (AI).

HI will ensure your teams thrive. And when teams thrive, businesses will thrive. (And good creative leaders have known this for years.)

Driving evolution.

I’ve worked with many companies and brands that need to transform and evolve. BUT, the evolution cycle inside companies must be continuous to survive. McKinsey believes that ".....in 2027, 75% of the companies currently quoted on the S&P 500 will have disappeared." (How's that for a reason to evolve?)

And an 85-year-old Havard study found that jobs that require little human interaction and don't offer opportunities to build meaningful relationships with co-workers tend to have the most miserable employees.

How to Transform.

The conversation with business leaders regarding transformation typically begins with discussing a digital revolution, including AI - and how they are behind on the digital train and need to accelerate their technology.

Before companies lean into AI, however, there needs to be a discussion about the impact of Human Intelligence and whether HI or AI can deliver the most significant business result in the long and short term.

Not a threat.

AI is not a threat to human intelligence. On the contrary, it is a simple tool that can supplement our abilities, help us work more efficiently, and free-up human workers to focus on more complex and creative problems.

Let's use the Industrial Revolution as an example: the revolution shifted humanity from an agrarian economy to a manufacturing economy, where products were no longer made solely by hand but by machines.

AI vs. HI

AI relies on data and instruction (inputs) to make decisions. HI is about connecting and processing information based on emotion, prior experiences, and natural gut intuition. This gut intuition and learning through trial and error are integral to being human. We all have instincts, but rarely do we listen closely.

Building a team for Human Intelligence.

Computers can't fully replicate many human behaviors. However, while these machines provide many advantages for business, there are many human tasks that machines can't perform.

Human Intelligence (HI) combines various cognitive abilities and the ability to reason.

To allow HI to succeed, there are many steps to take. And there is no silver bullet. You have to build a group of like-minded individuals who support each other - so not only do you have to make sure you have the right people on the bus, you have to ensure they are sitting in the right seat.

Focus On HI To Grow.

AI and digital tools are a means to increase the efficiency of human efforts. Investing in AI and new tools is essential, but only if people learn, grow, improve..... and, most importantly, want to be a part of the change.

Humanity needs human contact and interaction to exist. We hire people. We want to work with people. And generally, we want people to be happy and content. And the modern workplace requires HI to enjoy growth and succeed year after year.
